In order to further the esprit-de-corps among the then 20 or so Klub Sport clients in 1997, Klub Sport sought approval of HSR to have its own Challenge Race amongst its clients. In much the same fashion as Klub Sport started, the Challenge Race became widely known in the Vintage Porsche community and within short order 50 racers joined the Friday afternoon event. It has been said by Art Eastman of Vintage Motorsports that the Klub Sport Challenge Race held normally at the end of the day Friday at selected HSR events (5 to 6 per year) is often the best and classiest race of the weekend. The race is normally 8 to 12 laps depending on the time available and the length of the event track with rules being strictly enforced. Eligible cars are the 2.0 liter 911 and the 914 up to 2.0 liter and all 356s. Normally there are 30 to 50 participants and at any given race there are as many as 4 to 6 leaders with multiple leader changes. On any given day, the front 4 finishers are typically within one second of one another. Awards and prizes are presented internally by Klub Sport. Points are awarded at each race and at the Daytona finale, an overall Klub Sport Challenge Champion is crowned. We are very proud of our contributing sponsors over the years. The mainstay's have been Brumo's Porsche of Jacksonville, Florida, Greased Lightening, Go Go Racing.com, Holiday Inn/ Coca Cola, Momo Watch USA and Ernie Bello Motorsport (tires). Without these friends and sponsors, the Klub Sport Challenge would certainly not be as successful as it has become. 2010 Race Schedule Palm Beach Historic Races – Palm Beach International Raceway (February 5-8) Sebring Endurance Challenge – Sebring International Raceway (March 5-8) The Mitty 09 Speedfest – Road Atlanta (April 30 - May 3) Watkins Glen Historic Races - Formula Car Festival – Watkins Glen International (June 11-14) Lime Rock (Non-HSR Event) Daytona Continental Historic Races – Daytona International Raceway (November 5-8) Sebring Historic Fall Classic - The 4 Hours of Sebring - Season Finale – Sebring International Raceway (December 3-6)
